Rajouri, Sep 12: An unidentified terrorist and a soldier were killed while two soldiers and a policeman sustained injuries in an encounter at Narla village of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said Tuesday.
Officials said that after receiving inputs about the suspicious movement of terrorists in Narla village of Rajouri district, Army and police launched a Cordon and Search Operation in the area falling under Teryath police post. Additional Director General of Police Mukesh Singh confirmed that one soldier has lost his life while one terrorist was also killed in the ongoing operation.
“After intense search, a contact was established with the terrorists after which a fierce encounter broke out,” he said, adding in the ensuing gunfight, one unidentified terrorist was killed while three soldiers and a cop sustained injuries.
“Among the injured soldiers, one succumbed while the other two and the policeman were being treated at the hospital,” the official said, adding that the body of the slain terrorist was spotted but wasn’t retrieved as intense exchange of firing was going on.
A source said that it is believed that one to two more terrorists could be hiding in the forest area. “Cordon layers have been tightened from all sides and lights have been installed as well due to the dark,” he said. (KNO)
