Srinagar, Sep 22: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday arrested a person, who was involved in an attack on a student with a sharp object at Qamariya Park Ganderbal.
“Yesterday at about 1530hrs, a scuffle broke out between two persons at Qamariya Park Ganderbal wherein Mohd Irfan (Student) son of Ab Hamid Sheikh resident of Saloora Ganderbal got injured when he was attacked by another person with a sharp object/thread cutter. The injured was promptly shifted to the District Hospital Ganderbal for immediate medical attention,” a police spokesman said in a statement.
Acting swiftly, a police party led by SHO Ganderbal Insp. Manzoor Ahmad reached the spot & during preliminary investigation, it came to surface that one person namely Abrar Ahmad Parray son of Mohd Ismail Parray resident of Rangil Nagbal has attacked the victim with a sharp object & fled away from the spot, police said.
Consequently, police said that a case under FIR number 271/2023, under relevant sections of law was registered in PS Ganderbal.
Further, on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar, a special police team was constituted under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ganderbal to investigate the case. After exhaustive efforts, the police team successfully apprehended the accused person Abrar Ahmad Parray at Nagbal Chowk near Petrol Pump. During further investigation, it came fore that the scuffle had taken place between the duo over a love affair with a same girl (Name Withheld). They further disclosed that the heated argument between the two turned into scuffle in which the victim got injured, police said.
Police remain committed to ensure the safety and security of the community and will continue to take appropriate action to uphold the law and protect the citizens of Ganderbal, police said. (KNO)
