Bandipora, Sep 23: Government Higher Secondary School in Izmarg in Gurez area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district, is grappling with a shortage of lecturers, students complained here on Saturday.
The students said that this issue arose after several lecturers were transferred from the school a month ago, leaving students and locals anxious about the quality of education.
Ishfaq Ahmad, a local student, said, “We are worried about our studies. With fewer teachers, our education is getting affected. We hope the authorities take notice and provide us with the necessary teaching staff.”
He said that the shortage of lecturers has led to larger class sizes and increased workload on the remaining teaching staff, making it challenging to maintain the educational standards the school is known for.
“Education is the backbone of any society. The shortage of lecturers at our school is a setback. We request the government to consider the long-term impact on our youth and provide immediate relief by assigning new lecturers,” Gulam Ahmad, an elderly local, said.
He said that the transfer of lecturers has caused uncertainty among students and parents who fear that their education may suffer.
The locals and students have urged the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad to expedite the appointment of new lecturers to fill the vacant positions and ensure uninterrupted learning for the students. Meanwhile, an official said that he will look into the matter.
