Keep Kashmir connected

Just a few hours of electricity being supplied to the people across Kashmir have been giving them tough times at a time when the winter has not arrived. Such a situation is usually witnessed during winters when the people resort to huge overloading due to the shivering cold and thus putting a burden on the government. The people have been raising questions over the augmentation of the power infrastructure in Jammu & Kashmir as amid the claims of round-the-clock electricity; the consumers are being forced to reel under darkness most of the times as the electricity is being snatched for hours together, leaving them to lurch at large. Even as the smart meters have been installed by the government with an aim to ensure better electricity and charge the consumers as per the usage, but it has failed to achieve any yield so far as the consumers have been accusing the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) of ignoring their plights by providing erratic power supply to them. One cannot imagine the change in the power scenario during the upcoming winters as the situation has already worsened at a time when the Autumn has arrived. It is the time when the government should take steps to make the adequate electricity available to the people as the winters are about to arrive and there is a need to make sure that the consumers are not pushed to the wall this winter and the unscheduled power cuts are put to an end at present so that the people could heave a sigh of relief.
