Keep Kashmir connected

While Srinagar’s major business hub—Lal Chowk has witnessed some major developmental works in the recent past, the area has been witnessing frequent traffic congestion that leads to the sufferings of people. The traffic in the area in the peak hours especially in the morning and in the afternoon hours are usually landing the commuters in trouble as they are being forced to wait for hours together to reach their destinations. A large number of vehicles could be seen around the famous Clock Tower as there is less space available for the commuters to commute and at the same time, the ongoing works is adding to the misery of the people. To put an end to the sufferings of people, there is a need to make sure that the ongoing developmental works around the spot are completed at an earliest so that the commuters could heave a sigh of relief. Moreover, there is also a need to come up with some diversions so that the frequent traffic congestion is put to an immediate end. There has been an increase of visitors to the spot after the renovation of the clock tower, commonly known as Ganta Ghar, but it puts huge responsibility on the authorities at the same time to ensure hassle free movement to the commuters, who include locals as well as the tourists. The departments concerned must take some concrete measures to bring respite to the commuters.
