In yet another instance, precious lives have been lost in a deadly accident on the National Highway here as 39 passengers were killed and 17 others were injured when a passenger bus met with an accident near Trungal at Assar area of Doda district. The loss of lives have been widely mourned as the President of India, Prime Minister, Union Home Minister, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir and other senior political leaders from across the country have expressed their grief and sympathy with the families, who lost their beloved in the accident. But, the condolence to the bereaved families is not enough to tackle the situation; it needs a proper check and measures to put an end to the loss of the lives that have been witnessed frequently along the National Highway so far. The administration while taking stock of the rescue operation, has directed the officers to intensify the measures that would ensure there is no loss of life in such a manner in future. The fatal accident has given a reminder to the administration to find and plug all the loopholes and make sure that such accidents are thwarted from now onwards. It is the time when the administration needs to identify all such spots where the frequent accidents have been reported, and therefore, a plan must be devised to come up with the preventive measures by roping in all the experts from within the country and outside as well so that the precious lives are saved in the future.
