Jammu, Nov 15: Chief Secretary, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta Wednesday visited panchayat Flora Nagbani, in block Marh, and interacted with the locals and PRI representatives in a public event organised under the Back to Village 5 program.
Speaking to the public, Chief Secretary highlighted the significance and transparency of online services and encouraged all to look at government works on Jan Bhagidari portal. He said that paper applications and documentation are discouraged these days and the Prabhari officer must educate the public about the government online services.
Chief Secretary said that all the government works are reflected online public disclosure is the new norm. He underlined that public participation is encouraged by the current system and the public can view the status of the works without any need for username or passwords. He also informed that 55 officers have been fined for not providing services in time.
Dr Mehta asked the public about their experience and knowledge of online services and Jan Bhagidari portal. He underlined the significance of time bound disposals and asked about the status of government welfare activities and delivery of schemes such as KCC, old age pension, functioning of schools etc. He laid great importance on self employment and swacchata.
DDC Chairman Bharat Bhushan said that the three tier system established since January 2021 has brought positive change and given power to the PRI representatives. He called for rationalisation of funds and allocations for Jammu district panchayats.
The DDC Chairman said that B2V is helping the government improve upon the implementation of schemes through public participation and the role of Visiting Officers is crucial. He encouraged the public representatives to raise genuine and effective demands only.
Sarpanch Vandana Kumari apprised the Chief Secretary of the local development activities and the issues faced by the panchayat.
Dr Mehta also interacted with a few members of the public, listened to their grievances and passed necessary directions for redressal.
Div Com Jammu, Ramesh Kumar; DC Jammu, Sachin Kumar Vaishya; SSP Jammu, Dr Vinod Kumar; DDC Member, Surinder Kumar were present on the occasion.
