Pulwama, Nov 15: Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday said that the higher education department in the Union Territory has embraced a fresh perspective, paving the way for positive advancements and instilling a renewed sense of optimism for the future.
During the inauguration of the National Academia-Industry Conclave on the 18th Foundation Day of the Islamic University of Science & Technology, Awantipora, the Lt Governor said that the higher education department of Jammu and Kashmir has been reaching new heights in recent years, signaling a new dawn for the Union Territory
He added that the conventional model of higher educational institutions is no longer sufficient to equip the current and future workforce or meet the evolving needs of industries, given the rapid advancements in cutting-edge technology
The Lt Governor stated, “The academic world and industries need to collaborate strongly and function as one campus. Universities should adjust their curriculum according to industry needs and grant students access to new technologies with a transformative impact on today’s world.”
“The inventions of yesterday form the knowledge foundation for students, but the technological progress of tomorrow hinges on the collaboration between academia and industry,” he added.
Reciting a verse, “Nadi ne dhoop se kya kah diya rawaani mein, ujaale paanv patkane lage hain paani mein,” he expressed that IUST University has undergone significant progress and transformation in recent years. In the past, during the Foundation Day celebrations, the university used to organize a few lectures to mark its presence. However, now there is a remarkable transformation visible in the institution.
“Gaining degrees from institutions is not the real achievement; instead, it’s about making yourself more creative and expressing your inner self and skills,” he said.
He added that people should explore the inner selves of figures like Mahatma Gandhi, Newton, Einstein, and others, who, despite their academic backgrounds, made significant names in the universe.
“Students should go beyond the four walls of the classroom and engage with everything new that is happening,” he added. On November 19, a group of 65 students from our universities will venture outside the valley for a project-based learning program, providing them with a significant boost, and this initiative will continue in the future.
