Ganderbal, Nov 29: With the anticipation of weather change in the valley, the authorities in Ganderbal are well-prepared for snow clearance operations, the Executive Engineer of the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Division in the district, Tatheer Manzoor said on Wednesday.
Tatheer said that he has announced the issuance of tenders in 18 stages this year to streamline and expedite the snow clearance process.
“We have completed all preparations. This time, the department has removed the tender in 18 zones, which will facilitate quicker snowfall clearance and offer considerable relief to the people,” he said.
Covering all key areas, including Wakura, Sheepathri, Safapora, Lar and others, the R&B Division is fully ready with an estimated 521 kilometres of roads set to be covered under the snow clearance operations, the engineer said, adding that priority will be given to roads leading to hospitals.
We will ensure that crucial routes are cleared promptly by the mechanical department, he added.
Emphasising the importance of effective communication, Tatheer said, “We already have district control rooms, and our contact numbers are circulated among people. If any problem arises, officials from the concerned department will handle it and resolve the issue.”
He, however, appealed to the public to cooperate by refraining from parking their vehicles on the roadsides. “The people should not park their vehicles on the roadsides so that the road clearance work is not hampered,” he added.
