Anantnag, Nov 29: A Special Police Officer (SPO) of Jammu & Kashmir Police was killed on Wednesday after a sumo vehicle hit him at Bamzoo area of Mattan in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, an official said.
An official said that today evening a Sumo vehicle bearing registration number JK012-1976 driven by Muzafar Ahmad Bhat of Hapatnad Aishmuqam hit a cop near SIFAR restaurant Bumzoo, who was on naka duty.
He said the cop suffered critical wounds and was immediately evacuated to GMC Anantnag where doctors declared him brought dead.
The cop has been identified as Mohammad Maqbool Ganie, son of Abdul Aziz Ganie of Shangus. He said the vehicle has been seized while driver has also been arrested.
