Keep Kashmir connected

While the hotels are jam-packed in the twin picturesque places of Kashmir including Gulmarg and Pahalgam, the number of people aspiring to visit the spots on the eve of New Year has been increasing as the hoteliers and the local people continue to receive the inquiries, especially from the local visitors. However, it is being claimed that the rooms on rent are being sold at the exorbitant rates, which not only is in violation of the rules set by the government but also giving a bad impression to the visitors as well. Such a situation is being witnessed at a time when the government has been making efforts to set a new record of having the largest-ever footfall of tourists in Jammu and Kashmir, but at the same time, some people are out to give a bad impression and play a spoilsport in this mission and the target. While hundreds of people are expected to visit the twin places in Kashmir on New Year eve, there is a need to make sure that the visitors are not fleeced by the people associated with the tourism sector. As the people are set to celebrate the occasion after a few days, the concerned authorities should take measures to ensure that the visitors are not pushed to the wall and also the rooms are booked as per the rates fixed by the concerned authorities. It is the time when the celebrations should give a further push to tourism in Jammu and Kashmir rather than disappointing the people.
