Tagging of institutions can ensure quality education

After the recent debate over the reports about Board of School Education, Jammu and Kashmir not accepting Class 10 examination forms from students of private schools established on state land, it has come to the fore that the government has tagged on-roll students of 60 private academic institutions of Kashmir operating on proprietary land with “expired affiliations”. The order in this regard has been issued by Deputy Secretary BOSE citing the expiration of affiliation of private academic institutions of the Kashmir division in October 2021 and 2022, coupled with the failure of the concerned management to submit the requisite case files for further extension with necessary certificates and safety documents in terms of standing rules and norms. However, the tagging of on-roll students of these private institutions will certainly help in safeguarding the academic career of the children. The timely action by the government would help in putting an end to the business started by the private educational institutions in the name of education. Such an action would also help in ensuring better education at the government schools as by tagging private institutions with the government-run schools, the teaching staff would simultaneously be increased thus will help impart a quality education to the students. But, the action must not be selective as the erring private institutions must be identified across Jammu & Kashmir and all such erring institutions should face the equal action. It is the way that can help in ensuring better and quality education to the students at this juncture.
