Srinagar, Jan 6: With stage set for the big fight—Lok Sabha polls—slated for March- April this year, J&K BJP has blew the poll bugle with party’s national president J P Nadda arriving in Jammu tomorrow (Jan 7) to chair a crucial meeting to check the party pulse.
Reliable sources said that the J&K BJP unit is already in poll mode and a lot of ground exercise has been done so far. “BJP national president J P Nadda is arriving in Jammu tomorrow. He will chair a crucial meeting of party leadership at Trikuta Nagar, Jammu where J&K BJP chief Ravinder Raina and BJP General Secretary (Org) Ashok Koul will brief him about the party’s pulse and strengthen on ground ahead of the Parliamentary polls,” they said.
The sources said that National General Secretary BJP and J&K affairs incharge Tarun Chug will also attend the meeting. The meeting assumes significance as BJP has already started many exercises that include reaching out to people at booth and constituency level.
A senior BJP leader said that the party national president’s visit is significant and a morale booster for all ranks of the party. “The BJP J&K chief will present the report card of the party that includes the probable candidates from J&K who would be shortlisted for contesting Lok Sabha polls,” he said. “To frame the strategy to be implemented on ground is the must agenda for tomorrow’s meeting.”
BJP J&K General Secretary Ashok Koul said that the meeting is very important for the BJP cadre. “It is always a big step when the party chief himself comes to J&K from Delhi to check the party performance,” he said. “We will be discussing Lok Sabha polls and obviously, the final strategy will be discussed for implementation on ground.” He said loopholes will be identified and measures to plug them will also be taken in the meeting.
The BJP will also organise a party spokesmen meeting in Jammu on January 10. “Directions for spokesmen will be passed in the meeting,” a party leader said.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Jammu on January 9. Sources said that Shah will visit forward posts and also meet army officials to get their feedback on the prevailing situation. Sources said that Shah is likely to meet BJP leader of J&K later in the afternoon before leaving back to New Delhi.
