Dependency on foreign technology, new threats to national security

The mushroom growth of associations have always led to the chaos and confusion among the general public as happened Tuesday when the two different transporters associations were divided over the strike call. While Chairman All Kashmir Transporters’ Confederation had extended its support to the strike call given by transporters in Maharashtra, New Delhi and other states’, Kashmir Transport Welfare Association on the other hand has put off the observance of strike. All this has led to the chaos among the general public, who have been witnessed thronging the fuel stations to refill the tanks of their vehicles in large numbers. The fuel stations witnessed a huge rush of people just a few days back when the transporters observed a strike to protest against the new penal laws. Such a situation has been witnessed across the Valley from time to time, but when someone acts as per their wishes and whims, the situation can take a U-turn at any time. To keep a proper check and control over such issues, the government needs to ensure that the mushroom growth of associations is put to an end so that there is no space for chaos and confusion among the people. The associations might have been playing a key role for the general public, but at the same time, there is a need to work under one umbrella rather than opening up the units to divide the people in every sector. The associations must act responsibly and those leading the forums should ensure that the people are not pushed to the wall.
