Career guidance can transform Kashmir’s young minds

Yet again, the show of organizing events especially on the roads has begun as the nation is observing the National Road Safety Week. But, one needs to ponder whether organizing such events and programmes have helped in reducing the number of road accidents. In fact, there are hardly some people who pay heed to such activities while most of the people don’t even understand the need and reasons behind such programmes as the authorities have confined the week to students only. However, the demonstrations especially in the government departments, schools, other educational institutions, bus stands, and other open spaces can prove fruitful as the reach could be extended to beyond students and those who use to drive on a regular basis could even understand their responsibility on the roads in a much better way. The National Road Safety Week should be observed in a serious way, rather than celebrating the events as the fatal road accidents on a regular basis have been claiming the lives of someone’s beloved. It is the time when this week should be utilized to create more awareness and make people responsible enough while commuting through the roads, which is the only way out to reduce the number of fatal road accidents as whenever the people start behaving responsibly, the number of fatal accidents could start reducing automatically. Therefore, in order to observe the Road Safety Week, there is a need to come out of the confined people and ensure more and more masses are made aware and responsible, which simultaneously would help in decreasing the graph of accidents.
