Awantipora, Jan 23: Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain Tuesday said that “security situation was well under control” in the UT as major security features and challenges—law and order, street violence, smooth functioning of business establishments, schools and colleges was successfully dealt. He, however, said that a few foreign terrorists infiltrating into this side is a challenge in Rajouri-Poonch and in Kashmir also to some extent.
Talking to media during the Public Dabar at Awantipora, DGP Swain said that the security situation is under control in J&K. “The major features of the security situation and challenges that entail law and order, street violence, smooth functioning of business establishments, schools, colleges have been successfully dealt with,” he said.
He said that infiltration of a few terrorists continues to be a challenge. “They come through tunnels and other routes to foment trouble. This challenge is in Rajouri-Poonch area and also in Kashmir to some extent,” the DGP said.
He said that the big thing is that “our boys” aren’t with them (foreign terrorists). “They have very few takers. Terrorism issues in J & K have origin outside. 90 per cent of this issue is from outside. We are committed to deal with this challenge and time will come when people will themselves help us in catching them (foreign terrorists),” the DGP said, adding that the number of foreign terrorists is less.
The DGP said that today’s program was the first grievance redressal in South Kashmir. “Lot of people came today. There are different issues including cheating, domestic violence and land disputes. There are wide-range range of issues confronting people. We are trying our level best
This is the first grievance redressal in south Kashmir. Lot of people had come to participate in this. There are different issues like cheating, domestic violence, land disputes, and a wide range of issues. We are trying our best to resolve the people’s issues.
