Keep Kashmir connected

It’s snowing moderately at multiple places across the Kashmir valley for the last couple of days, thereby resulting in accumulation of snowfall at several places including the most-visited tourist spots like Sonamarg, Gulmarg, Doodhpathri, Sinthan Top and others. Except Srinagar, the snowfall has accumulated at the places across the region. After the accumulation of snow, the roads have turned slippery at many places, which pose a serious risk of accidents as has been witnessed in the past as well. But, these places cannot be thrown closed for the people during these days, given its beauty that mesmerizes and attracts the tourists every year in the snowy days and are known for it, which pushes the economy of Jammu and Kashmir as well with the increase in the footfall of the visitors. The people visiting these places during winters are also ensuring the bread and butter for many tourism players as well. However, as visiting these places during snowy days is the dream for many, there is a need to ensure proper adherence to the traffic norms and chains on the wheels of the vehicles that are heading towards such spots. Preventing the loss of lives is the major concern and thereby the authorities concerned should ensure that no vehicle without the chains is allowed to move towards these destinations. Also, the authorities should also establish more control rooms along these routes so that any eventuality would get a swift response and help in ensuring smooth passage to the visitors.
