Kupwara, Feb 6: In a remarkable transformation, the markets of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district have received a Dubai-inspired facelift. The traditional bazaars, known for their unique blend of local culture and commerce have now got a touch of modernity that echoes the opulence of the Middle East.
The initiative, driven by local entrepreneurs and supported by people, aims to enhance the aesthetic appeal and infrastructure of Kupwara’s commercial hubs.
Bilal Ahmad, 43, a resident of Tarathpora Kupwara, said that “Oxiwave” is a Dubai based brand introduced in Kashmir, entirely owned, managed and operated by locals.
“Our goal is to become the first million dollar brand that originated from the remote regions of Kashmir. We want to achieve this by harnessing technology and local talent, demonstrating that success can be achieved even operating from the most remote areas. Additionally, we aspire for the youth of Kashmir by sending a powerful message, you can operate and attain success from remote areas while making a significant impact with small investments,” Ahmad said.
Shahid Iqbal, a guiding force behind Oxiwave, emphasized the distinctiveness of their products. Despite the quality disparity from local Kashmiri brands, the rates remain a testament to Oxiwave’s commitment to accessibility. Offering a generous discount, thermals, towels, and ladies’ leggings are available at prices significantly lower than their original market value.
Tahira, wife of Shahid, proudly proclaimed the headquarters of Oxiwave to be nestled in the scenic Tikkar Kupwara. With franchises adorning Handwara main market, Bemina Srinagar, Ganjwara Janglat Anantnag, and Baramulla main market, Oxiwave stands as a beacon of quality and variety.
The treasure trove of brands under Oxiwave’s umbrella includes an array of offerings—from bedroom sets to a diverse range of comforters, blankets, bed sheets, towels, and the unique touch of pillows crafted from duck and rabbit feathers. Not stopping there, Oxiwave is set to introduce Abayas of the Nukba brand, Kameez Shalwar for men, and exclusive marriage packages. They even extend their embrace to spiritual journeys with meticulously curated Hajj and Umrah packages.
Adding a touch of generosity, Ishfaq Iqbal, the brother of Shahid Iqbal, unveiled an Aawunique initiative. Anyone installing the Oxiwave application on their phone will receive a delightful reward—a 500 rupees voucher, a gesture echoing Oxiwave’s commitment to its customers.
Beyond the realm of commerce, Oxiwave transcends into a larger vision. As Ishfaq Iqbal aptly stated, Oxiwave is not just a brand; it is an innovation tailored for diverse individuals. The organization embodies a spirit of perseverance and serves as a platform for those aspiring to contribute, especially from remote areas. Profits, while acknowledged, take a backseat to the broader message—an inspiration for the youth to dream and achieve, no matter their origin.
In essence, Oxiwave unfolds as more than a business venture; it is a narrative of ingenuity, inclusivity, and empowerment, echoing across the landscapes of Kashmir and beyond.
As Kupwara’s markets embrace a touch of Dubai, the initiative serves as a testament to the power of blending tradition with modernity.
