The inclement weather conditions already predicted by the Meteorological department here has wreaked havoc in some parts of Jammu and Kashmir as the reports suggest that two people have died, a few others were injured while around 300 houses have been damaged partially or completely in different areas across the Union Territory. The huge damage has been recorded in three districts of Jammu and Kashmir including Ramban, Kulgam and Anantnag. The roofs of many have been blown away by the winds while some of the structures are stated to have been damaged completely today due to the gusty winds accompanied by the heavy rainfall. The weather conditions would likely improve from Sunday and those who have faced the damage due to the winds have been reportedly shifted to safer places. However, the government should ensure the best possible relief to the affected families and ensure that they rebuild their houses again without any delay. The government should press its men and machinery to come up with comprehensive measures so that the affected families are compensated at the right time. The district administrations thereby should be directed to assess the damage on the ground and file the complete details within a day so that the further measures are taken accordingly. Moreover, to keep humanity and Kashmiriyat alive, the people within the society should also come forward to prepare meals and ensure other basic facilities to the affected families at this time of grief, so that the families could heave a sigh of relief.
