DEO Budgam reviews preparations for upcoming Lok Sabha elections

Budgam, Mar 18: The District Election Officer (DEO) Budgam, Akshay Labroo Monday reviewed the preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha- 2024 elections in the district.
In this regard, the DEO chaired a detailed meeting of officers at Conference Hall to review preparations and arrangements for the smooth conduct of elections across the district.
At the outset, the DEO called for strict implementation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and urged all for strict adherence to all guidelines of Election Commission of India.
The DEO emphasized on providing a level playing field to all political parties to ensure free, fair and smooth conduct of elections in the district.
Instruction for strict adherence to vulnerability mapping, timely reporting on defacement of public and private properties, availability of Assured Minimum Facilities at all polling booths, deployment of micro observers, resource availability and manpower, logistics, transport, video surveillance, SVEEP training and EVM management in all areas of the district were issued.
Instructions for sensitization of subordinate staff regarding strict implementation of Model Code of Conduct were also given to all the nodal officers.
DEO directed that FST and SST teams shall work in coordinated manner as per the guidelines of ECI.
The DEO also instructed on arranging comprehensive training sessions for all the AROs and nodal officers regarding MCC and other ECI guidelines.
The DEO said that a dedicated district level control room has been established to ensure seamless redressal of public complaints and ensure smooth conduct of elections at all polling booths.
SSP Budgam, Al Tahir Gillani who also spoke on the occasion, said that all required arrangements for free and fearless elections shall be ensured in the district.
Among others, the meeting was attended by the ADDC, ADC, ASP, CPO, Deputy District Election Officer, all SDMs, all SDPOs, all Tehsildars, all district officers, all SHOs of the district.
