Srinagar, Mar 25: “People should come out in numbers and cast their vote for change, development and communal harmony in forth coming Lok Sabha polls, said Mir Iqbal- General Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee in an interview with Arshad Farooq. Here are excerpt:
What are your views about India Alliance and how will it impact the forthcoming elections?
Right now the election will be fought between two ideologies. One is the one who want to unite people of India on the basis of development, communal harmony and secularism while as on the other hand, another ideology is contesting elections on religious animosity, caste and creed. India Alliance which has NC, PDP, INC and Marxists as parties in Jammu and Kashmir want to unite people on the basis of development and communal harmony and will assure safeguard of rights of people which has been snatched by BJP while as BJP and its alliance are contesting elections by dividing people on the basis of religion, by befooling people on name fake promises. The people are wise enough to understand the same and will cast their votes accordingly.
People say that BJP has A, B, C and D teams who can affect the voter count. What are your views about it?
As I told you, people are well aware about these A,B,C and D teams of BJP and they won’t be able to affect INDIA alliance. These subsidiary teams have always been party to BJPs agenda with regard to J&K and they are exposed now. People are wise enough to teach these subsidiary teams a lesson. These parties are equally responsible for the destruction of Kashmir as is BJP.
Who will contest for Baramulla seat?
The INDIA alliance has NC, PDP, Congress in it and there are reports that NC will be given the chance to contest the elections from Baramulla seat and we will give full support to the candidate. Let them choose a better candidate for the benefit of the people.
Javid Beigh joined NC, any reason?
I have huge respect for Javid Beigh. He found it good to join NC and NC find Javid Baig good for it. We should not interfere in their affairs. Let’s see how long this relationship will go on.
Your suggestion for young voters
Everyone should cast their votes. Not only people of Jammu and Kashmir but throughout India people should vote. Votes only decide our future and is a fundamental right. So, people should come out in numbers and vote for a better change. Else we saw when people don’t vote, communal parties come to power and destroy the whole nation.
