The time has elapsed, but the promises done with the people with regard to the round-the-clock electricity remained a distant dream as the power paucity especially in the winter period has only added to the miseries of the people. Every time, the people of Kashmir have been promised of adequate electricity, but in the end, they were compelled from time to time to hit the streets and seek only adherence to the power curtailment schedule. In the last two consecutive years, the government had promised adequate electricity, stating the problems being faced by the people will come to an end from next winter, however, nothing changed on the ground, thus forcing consumers again to hit the streets, block the roads and raise slogans to demand adequate electricity. Yet again, the Lieutenant Governor yesterday claimed that a long-term strategy is being made to ensure 20-22 hours electricity in Jammu and Kashmir soon. It is true that the infrastructure has been augmented in the Union territory, thus generating a hope among the consumers once again. Therefore, the government should take immediate and adequate measures in this regard so that it comes up to the expectations of the people and the consumers on the ground could heave a sigh of relief.
