Police arrest three drug peddlers in Sopore, Shopian

Srinagar, Apr 14: In continuation its unwavering efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 3 drug peddlers in Sopore and Shopian and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police party of Police Station Tarzoo headed by SHO PS Tarzoo under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Sarfaraz Bashir at a checkpoint established at Nageen Bagh Krankshivan Colony Sopore apprehended two persons. During search, 143 grams of charas like substance have been recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Ghulam Hassan Dar son of Ghulam Mohiudin Dar resident of Mohalla Telyan Sopore and Ghulam Qadir Malik son of Ghulam Nabi Malik resident of Alamdar Colony Tahab Pulwama.
In Shopian, a police party from Police Post Wachi during naka checking at Wachi market intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During search, 1.7 Kg Charas like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Abdul Hameed Mir son of Gh Nabi Mir resident of Darbagh.
All the 3 accused have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
