Bandipora, Apr 20: SVEEP cell District Bandipora in collaboration with Department of Social Forestry Bandipora on Saturday organized plantation drive under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative at various polling stations.
The plantation drive at polling stations was aimed to beautify the surroundings and to instill a sense of responsibility towards both the environment and the democratic process.
The District Election Officer (DEO) Bandipora, Shakeel ul Rehman inaugurated the plantation drive at High School Bagh Bandipora, which is designated Green polling Station.
During the plantation drive, the DEO was accompanied by Dy.DEO Mohammad Rafeeq Bhat, and other concerned officers.
Addressing the gathering at High School Bagh (Green polling Station), the DEO appreciated the efforts of SVEEP Cell and applauded the role and participation of students in SVEEP activities.
He said green polling stations have been established to raise awareness about the clean and green environment and to encourage voters to adopt eco-friendly practices.
The DEO also highlighted strategies and initiatives aimed at educating and motivating citizens to exercise their voting rights.
He said that District Administration Bandipora has adopted unique initiatives under SVEEP, including plantation drives and sports activities, which are designed specifically to enhance participation in the electoral process.
Highlighting the value of the vote, the DEO said vote is a powerful tool for shaping the future and expressing one’s voice in the democratic process.
Later, the DEO visited Girls Higher Secondary School Plan Bandipora, which is a designated pink polling station.
At Higher Secondary School Plan Bandipora, plantation drive was held to promote environmental sustainability and civic engagement.
An awareness program was also held in which students and staff participated besides officers from the District Administration.
