Srinagar, Jun 3: A day ahead of the vote counting for Lok Sabha seats, eerie calm prevailed at the headquarters of three major political parties in Jammu and Kashmir summer capital, Srinagar while the hustle and bustle was witnessed at Nawa-e-Subha, headquarter of National Conference on Monday.
The offices and headquarters of Peoples Conference (PC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were deserted and nobody from the party, even workers were present at the respective places.
At NC headquarters, the workers and some of the leaders were seen busy with preparations for the counting of votes.
The passes have been received today only and the workers and the leaders are busy presently in distributing it amongst the voting agents, Ahsan Pardesi, NC’s Vice President for Kashmir Province, said at the party office.
The workers as well as the leaders were enthusiastic and happy ahead of the vote counting with the majority of them expecting a clean sweep in the Valley. “We will secure all the three seats from the Kashmir division,” the workers said.
Meanwhile, the headquarters and office of PDP and PC were seen deserted.
However, PDP Chief Spokesman, Suhail Bukhari when contacted said that all eyes are on the vote counting.
On the other hand, the Apni Party’s office witnessed the presence of some leaders including the party president Syed Altaf Bukhari.
Although the leaders were not available for the comments as a meeting was going with regard to the vote counting.
Pertinently, the seven-phased Lok Sabha elections concluded on June 01 while the exit polls released on last Saturday predicted the NDA winning the polls with a thumping majority.
If the exits polls are to be believed, BJP is securing two seats of Jammu division while NC is bagging two and PDP one in Kashmir division.
Meanwhile, a Peoples Conference leader said that “We are confident. Our confidence is grounded in the belief that the people of Baramulla have voted for change. By all accounts, it’s a tight contest, but we trust that the people have decided to give our vision for dignity and development a chance.” (KNO)
