Kashmir’s new journey: From separatism, terrorism to peace, participation, progress

The majority of the roads have been redesigned in Srinagar, giving a beautiful look and charm to the visitors here, but what remains unchanged for them is the absence of proper traffic management that has been leaving the hundreds of commuters to lurch at large on a regular basis. The traffic congestion being witnessed on Srinagar roads has turned out to be a major reason for the hardships of the commuters as the things have not changed despite witnessing smoother roads compared to the previous years. It is unfortunate that the people at the helm taking measures to streamline the traffic are not able to even ensure hassle-free vehicular movement. In a first instance, one fails to understand the reasons behind the coming up with the number of U-turns as the authorities have sealed most of these spots, pushing the commuters to the wall by forcing them to cover a huge distance to take another route. The number of U-turns would help in reducing the traffic congestion as these spots have been made available after through exercise and deliberations with an aim to ensure smooth passage to the vehicles. However, nobody seems willing to resolve this issue as the commuters continue to face hardships due to the continuous closure of the U-turn. The authorities concerned should take a review in this regard and ensure that the motive behind coming up with such a number of U-turns is achieved that would help the commuters to witness a hassle-free vehicular movement on the roads across Srinagar.
