Srinagar, Jun 6: Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulama (MMU) Jammu and Kashmir, a conglomerate of religious bodies led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has taken serious note of reports of blasphemous post by a non-local medical student at the Government Medical College Srinagar.
MMU, in a statement, said that such incident is unacceptable to the Muslims of for whom the reverence and honour of the Prophet (PBUH) is dearer than life and such blasphemous remarks will not be tolerated.
It asked the management of the college and authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly to find out if it is a deliberate attempt to instigate and hurt the religious feelings of the Muslims, and take stern action accordingly.
“This is not the first time that such an incident has occurred. Even last year at NIT a similar incident occurred. There seems to be a pattern to it,” it said.
MMU said that insulting a particular religious community and its revered figures -the hallmark of a certain hate based ideological movement in India, is spreading its tentacles in Jammu and Kashmir that has always upheld religious coexistence and respect for all faiths. “This ploy will not be allowed to succeed here.”
