Srinagar, Jun 6: In wake of the ongoing picnic season, the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Kashmir has asked all the schools, colleges and mini buses to obtain temporary permits for the movement from one district to another.
A notification, states that in accordance with sections 69 and 87 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, buses operating in areas not covered by their general permit conditions should secure an online temporary permit for the movement.
According to the notice, institutions must secure a temporary permit under section 66 of the Motor Vehicles Act by applying online through the Parivahan Portal.
A top officer at the transport department Kashmir said that the service is designed for auto-approval; ensuring permits are generated automatically upon payment of the requisite fee.
As per the notification, those seeking the temporary permit for the movement from one district to another for picnic purpose, they have to log on to the website: vahan.parivahan.gov.in or a nearby Common Service Center (CSC) and that the temporary permit (TP) will be auto-approved and can be printed directly from the user end.
The senior officer said that this streamlined process aims to facilitate institutions in complying with regulatory requirements while ensuring smooth and safe transportation during the picnic season.
Pertinently, during the summers in Kashmir, a huge rush of school, college and mini buses carrying students moving from one district to another for picnic purpose is witnessed, with most of them facing fines for moving beyond their permit boundaries.
