Srinagar, Jul 26: President Ram Nath Kovind couldn’t reach Kargil on Monday owing to the bad weather didn’t allow his plane to take off from Srinagar forcing him to visit north Kashmir’s Baramulla district where paid tributes to soldiers who laid lives in Kargil war 22 years ago.
This is for the second time since 2019 that the president Kovind couldn’t reach Kargil to attend Vijay Diwas celebrations. An official said that the President’s plane couldn’t take off from Srinagar due to bad weather and difficult flying conditions for crossing Himilyan peaks like Zojila Pass.
The official said Plan B was been put in place and the President’s convey was diverted towards Gulmarg, Baramulla. A series of tweets on President Kovind’s official handle read that, “President Kovind interacts with officers and jawans of (Srinagar-based) Chinar Corps and High Altitude Warfare School, Gulmarg. President Kovind visits High Altitude Warfare School, Gulmarg, one of the most premier institutions in the field of warfare and writes a message appreciating and encouraging our soldiers who defend our borders.”
