Maximum temp rises in J&K amidst forecast of heat wave from today

Srinagar, Jun 10: Amidst the forecast of a heat wave across Jammu & Kashmir, the maximum temperature recorded a rise in the Union Territory on Monday with the weatherman advising the farmers to resume the farm operations.
Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a maximum temperature of 29.5 degree Celsius, which is 3.5 degree Celsius above compared to yesterday’s temperature.
Qazigund, the gateway of Kashmir, recorded a maximum temperature of 27.5 degree Celsius while Pahalgam, a famous tourist spot, recorded a maximum temperature of 24.2 degree Celsius.
Kupwara and Kokernag recorded a maximum temperature of 28.5 degree Celsius and 27.5 degree Celsius respectively while Gulmarg, a famous ski-resort, recorded 18.5 degree Celsius.
However, Jammu division recorded a rise in the mercury as well as Jammu, the winter capital of the Union Territory, recorded 41.9 degree Celsius. The other stations of Jammu recorded 30 degree Celsius temperature today.
In Banihal, the mercury settled at 30.5 degree Celsius while in Batote, the mercury settled at 30.7 degree Celsius.
Katra and Bhaderwah recorded a maximum temperature of 38.2 degree Celsius and 31.4 degree Celsius respectively.
Moreover, the weatherman amidst predicting the forecast of a heat wave from tomorrow onwards stated that the light rains and thunder at isolated places cannot be ruled out.
“There is a possibility of generally dry weather till June 17. The possibility of light rain, thunder at isolated places however, cannot be ruled out,” Director Meteorological, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said.
He also advised farmers to resume the far operations and added that a fresh spell of heat wave is expected from June 11 onwards.
