SPREAD-A mission for new destinations

The additional deployment of traffic cops on the roads across Srinagar ahead of the Eid-ul-Adha was the need of the hour and a much-needed decision, but one needs to understand that the people should follow the norms by parking their vehicles on the designated parking slots in the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir. Srinagar has been witnessing frequent traffic congestion during the normal days, especially in the morning and evening hours, but as the days of festivities are ahead, a large number of vehicles have been seen plying on the roads here, thereby increasing the traffic congestion further. However, the department concerned has taken a much-needed decision to deploy additional traffic cops on the roads to streamline the traffic along the route, which would surely help in putting an end to the traffic congestion in the vital markets where a huge rush of shoppers is seen ahead of the festival. But, at this juncture, the people need to understand that the illegal car parking as well as the other traffic norms violations would not help the commuters in any way, rather would further increase their hardships and sufferings. Therefore, the people must abide by the traffic norms ahead of the festival, so that the smooth shopping and vehicular movement is ensured on the ground for the people. The traffic department should keep a close eye on the traffic violations throughout the week, so that the commuters are not pushed to the wall and the motives behind increasing the number of traffic cops on the ground will be achieved.
