Srinagar, Jun 13: In preparation for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, the Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) has announced plans to deploy up to 250 buses to facilitate the pilgrimage. Officials confirmed that preparations are in full swing to ensure seamless transportation for the thousands of devotees expected to participate in the Yatra.
JKRTC is set to arrange between 200 to 250 passenger vehicles, including both its own fleet and additional services from private transporters. “We have started our preparations to ensure better transport facilities for the devotees during the Amarnath Yatra,” Rakesh Kumar Sarangal, Chief Manager of JKRTC Sarangal said. He also mentioned that the fare structure for AC, deluxe, and semi-deluxe buses will be finalized by next week.
Daily, 80 to 90 vehicles will travel on one side of the Yatra route, ensuring a steady flow of transport. To mitigate any disruptions, contingency plans include having replacement vehicles readily available in key locations such as Udhampur and Ramban, where the Yatra convoy will pass. This will ensure that if any vehicle encounters mechanical issues, it can be swiftly replaced, minimizing delays for pilgrims.
In addition to the expanded fleet, JKRTC will deploy 50 to 60 of its employees specifically for the duration of the Yatra to oversee operations and provide assistance to travelers. The comprehensive transportation plan reflects JKRTC’s commitment to enhancing the pilgrimage experience by ensuring reliable and efficient services.
Sarangal reassured the public, stating, “All necessary steps will be taken to provide better transport facilities to the devotees during the Amarnath Yatra. The fare of the buses will also be decided by next week.”
