Srinagar, Jun 20: Prime Minister Narendera Modi Thursday said that democracy and the Indian constitution is thriving in J&K in real terms and those not still adopting it are the real enemies of Kashmiri people.
“In J&K, democracy and the Indian constitution is thriving in real terms. Those still out of it and not abiding by it, are the real enemies of Kashmiri people,” PM Modi said addressing a young gathering at SKICC here.
He said that the NDA government at the Centre was committed to take forward the mission of former Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee—Kashmiriyat, Insaniyat and Jhamooriyat. “Article 370 was a wall that has been broken forever to make the journey of people of J&K towards peace,” he said.
The Prime Minister said that he was in Italy recently and there is a great impression of the government that has come to power for the third straight time in India. “People reposing great faith and trust in a government for the third time creates a global impression and strengthens global relations,” the PM said. “Today, the mood and the aspirations of Indian youth and people are all time high. When aspirations are high, people’s expectations from the government also become high. There is an aspirational society whose single parameter is performance.”
PM Modi said that the performance doesn’t come through social media of bashans (speeches). “Nation saw our performance and today, the same government is at the Centre for the third time,” PM Modi said. “People’s aspirations can be fulfilled by the NDA government. People trust our policies and vision. Aspirational society wants results on a fast track basis. Will see, will do, wait some time are old words now. People want the day’s results by evening.”
The PM said that after 60 years, people of India choose a government for the third term to serve them. “This election has sent a message to the world about stability. There was a time when five elections were held in ten years,” he said. “Today, democracy has been strengthened and the people of J&K have played a great role in this.”
The PM said that since independence, downtrodden PoK refugees, Valmikis, Safai Karamcharis were left at the lurch. “For the first time, they were given voting rights and due representation. First time, ST seats were reserved in the J&K Assembly and OBC reservation was announced. Those who remained at the helm at Centre never cared for these people,” he said.
He said that today the world has acknowledged the change in J&K. “Efforts are on to remove remaining Dil ki Dooriyan, Dili ki Dooriyan,” he said. “We all have to collectively work for a prosperous J&K. Money was earlier coming to this place as well but that never reached the right place. Today, money released for a particular work is reaching the right place and at the right time.”
