Nagrota, Jun 21: Saying that the International Yoga Day offers a unique opportunity to reflect on the holistic well-being, Senior BJP leader Devender Singh Rana Friday expressed satisfaction over the enthusiasm among youth about the practice of Yoga—India’s ancient valuable gift to the world bestowed by Prime Minister Yashasvi Narendra Modi.
Addressing the media persons at the side-lines of a mega event at Khel Gaon, Nagrota, which was attended by nearly thousand participants, Devender Rana said that apart from improving overall physical health and increasing strength, Yoga contributes to mental growth and well-being besides combating anxiety.
He lauded the Prime Minister for bringing Yoga to the global canvass with the United Nations declaring it as International Yoga Day in 2014—the year he took over the reins of the world’s largest democracy. Since then the Prime Minister has been promoting the event in a big way and there could not be a better response to it than young boys and girls participating in the main event at Dal Lake banks in Srinagar. The entire world witnessed enthusiastic youngsters rallying behind the Prime Minister in lush green lawns of SKICC surrounded by Zabarwan Hills, he added.
Devender Rana said the practice of yoga fosters a sense of unity and community and participation in the yoga sessions brings individuals from diverse backgrounds together, promoting a sense of oneness and mutual understanding. Practicing Yoga as per the glorious traditions of Bharat will surely bring about camaraderie among people from different walks of life, ethnicities and cultures in true spirit of Vasudeva Kutumbakam, he asserted.
Rana exhorted the people in general and the youth in particular to imbibe the spirit of yoga for promoting health, harmony, and peace within. The practice of Yoga has not only to be adhered to but bequeathed to the posterity across the world for overall harmony and well-being of the human race, he said.
Rana exuded confidence that observance of the day will promote the ancient practice that has transcended cultural and geographical boundaries, bringing people together in the pursuit of health and harmony.
