Srinagar, Jun 22: The parts of Kashmir continued to receive rainfall for the second straight day while the maximum temperature settled below normal on Saturday.
The light rainfall lashed the southern districts of Kashmir today again, bringing down the mercury here.
As per the details, the day temperature remained below normal Saturday with Srinagar recording a maximum temperature of 24.8 degree Celsius while Qazigund, a gateway of Kashmir, recorded 24.4 degree Celsius today.
Pahalgam, a famous tourist destination, has recorded a maximum temperature of 21.4 degree Celsius while Kupwara in north Kashmir, has recorded 26.6 degree Celsius. In Kokernag, the mercury settled at 22.5 degree Celsius while Gulmarg, a famous ski-resort, recorded 15.4 degree Celsius.
The three stations of Jammu division have recorded above 30 degree Celsius temperature today including Jammu, Banihal and Katra where the maximum temperature settled at 39.7 degree Celsius, 30.4 degree Celsius and 36.5 degree Celsius respectively.
While the day temperature continued to settle below normal in Kashmir parts, there is a possibility of more rainfall at isolated places for the next 48 hours.
As already reported, Jammu and Kashmir has recorded a deficient rainfall till June 20.
There was a deficient rainfall of 45 per cent in J&K from June 01 to June 20, the data reveals, adding that Kupwara is the only station where a normal rainfall of 35.2 degree Celsius was recorded during the period.
However, Anantnag, Budgam, Bandipora, Baramulla, Kulgam, Pulwama, Shopian and Srinagar have recorded deficient rainfall during the period.
Srinagar and Pulwama have recorded the highest deficient rainfall of 50 per cent and 55 per cent respectively, the data reveals. (KNO)
