Pulwama, Jul 2: SIDCO Lassipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, a key industrial area in the region, is grappling with a dire infrastructure crisis as its roads and drains suffer from neglect, causing inconvenience and hazards to residents and businesses alike.
The residents and workers in the area lament the deplorable condition of the roads, which are riddled with potholes and cracks, making commuting a nightmare.
They said that the lack of maintenance has led to frequent accidents and damage to vehicles, adding to the woes of commuters.
Nisar Ahmad, an industrialist said that their vehicles along with the vehicles plying on the routes of the industrial estate are suffering damage due to the bad condition of the roads in the estate
He said that at a time when the government is claiming that every nook and corner has been developed, this vital industrial estate has been neglected.
Ab Rashid, a worker said that waterlogged drains result in water logging, posing health risks and hampering daily activities for residents and businesses.
He said that there are no drains on some routes due to which water is coming on the roads and people along with workers and industrialists have been suffering.
Locals along with industrialists and workers said that despite repeated complaints and pleas, little action has been taken to rectify the situation, leaving them disillusioned and frustrated.
They requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest and take immediate steps in this regard. (KNO)
