MeT predicts moderate rainfall from Jul 12

Srinagar, Jul 10: As Jammu and Kashmir continues to witness a respite from heat wave; the weatherman here has again predicted the possibility of floods amidst the forecast of moderate rainfall till 17th July.
The temperature has once again plummeted in Srinagar and elsewhere today with Srinagar recording a maximum temperature of 29.8 degree Celsius.
The maximum temperature across Kashmir settled below 30 degree Celsius after witnessing a rise for the two straight days with Qazigund, a gateway of Kashmir, recorded 28.4 degree Celsius while Kupwara recorded a maximum temperature of 29.8 degree Celsius.
Kokernag has recorded a maximum temperature of 28.5 degree Celsius while the mercury settled at 25.7 degree Celsius in Pahalgam, a famous tourist destination.
The Jammu City has however recorded 33.3 degree Celsius while Banihal recorded a temperature of 29.0 degree Celsius.
Batote and Katra recorded a maximum temperature of 28.1 degree Celsius and 29.1 degree Celsius respectively.
However, the weatherman has predicted the possibility of flash floods again, saying that the light to moderate rainfall is expected in the next few days.
Director Meteorological department, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said that there is a possibility of a spell of rain and thundershower at many places of Jammu division and scattered places of Kashmir division tomorrow.
However, he said that from July 12 to July 13, a spell of light to moderate rain and thundershower is expected at scattered to fairly widespread places with heavy rain at isolated places of Jammu division on 12th July.
Furthermore, he added that on July 14 & 15, a brief spell of rain and thundershower is expected at scattered places while on July 16 & 17, a brief spell of rain and thundershower is expected at isolated places.
In its advisory, the MeT however, has said that flash floods, landslides, mudslides & shooting stones are expected at few vulnerable places during July 11 to July 13.
It added that a few low lying areas may experience temporary water logging conditions in Jammu division.
