Srinagar, Aug 10: Commissioner Secretary to the Government, H&UDD, Mandeep Kaur, along with the Commissioner SMC, Dr.Owais Ahmed, Saturday kicked off a large plantation drive in the buffer zone at the Municipal Landfill Site Achan as a key initiative under the ongoing Swachhata Pakhwada Campaign. This significant event marks a crucial step towards environmental sustainability in Srinagar. With the kick starting of this great initiative, it is estimated to plant 2000 trees at the Achan landfill site.
The joint initiative led by Mandeep and Dr.Owais aims to enhance green cover, promote environmental conservation, and contribute to a cleaner and healthier ecosystem at the Achan Landfill Site. By initiating this mega plantation drive, Mandeep and Dr. Owais demonstrated a shared commitment in fostering a more sustainable and eco-friendly environment for the local and residents of Srinagar City.
The Swachhata Pakhwada Campaign underscores the importance of collective action towards promoting cleanliness, sustainability, and environmental stewardship. The plantation drive at buffer zone of the Achan Landfill Site symbolizes a proactive approach to address ecological concerns, creating a greener landscape and the foul smell will also be minimised.
Mandeep expressed her appreciation for the collaborative efforts and emphasized the significance of such initiatives in promoting a cleaner and more sustainable future for the Srinagar. Mandeep highlighted the importance of community engagement and urged citizens to actively participate in environmental conservation activities.
Dr. Owais reiterated the corporation’s commitment in promoting a cleaner and greener Srinagar through innovative projects and community-driven initiatives. Dr. Owais emphasized the role of sustainable practices in creating a more liveable and environmentally conscious city.
