Bandipora, Aug 16: With the announcement by the Chief Election Commission of India for the much-awaited Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, the AIP started its campaign from Bandipora on Friday.
Addressing the large gatherings at multiple places in Bandipora, Abrar Rashid stated that the Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) remains committed to the people’s expectations, assuring them that the party will always be available in times of need.
Son of MP Engineer Rasheed, who is in Tihar jail, thanked people for their continued support.
He credited the AIP’s victory in the parliamentary polls to the unwavering support of the people of Kashmir, noting that the massive voter turnout and the AIP’s triumph are clear indicators of the public’s trust in his father, Er Rashid.
“Winning in the parliamentary elections is your win, you have shown the government (India) that all of Kashmir stands with Er Rashid”, he said.
The way you supported us in the parliamentary elections, we hope you will stand by us with the same enthusiasm in these polls. We are always with you, whether it’s water, electricity or any grievance — every issue will be addressed, assures Abrar, while seeking votes for the upcoming assembly election.
He said that, if there hadn’t been a huge turnout in the recent polls, the Election Commission wouldn’t have decided to move forward with the assembly elections. “To those who tried to mislead people by saying your votes were wasted, I say this — Er Rashid is a man who has never bowed before anyone. He will always fight for the people of Kashmir,” he said.
Referring to Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, he said “After the elections, they claimed that AIP was leading the campaign in the wrong direction. Was it the wrong direction just because Omar sahib lost? If he had won, this wouldn’t be his statement. It’s the youth who answered everyone by participating in such large numbers.
Similarly, the party’s senior leader, Showket Pandith, while speaking to KNO said that they are fully geared up for the polls and they expect the same enthusiasm, zeal and determination from the people as we witnessed in the parliamentary elections.
He stated that for the first time they are witnessing the youth actively participating, moving towards change besides, setting the stage for a brighter future.
The Awami Ittehad Party’s supremo Er Rasheed stood tall in the Baramulla parliamentary constituency, in recently held Lok Sabha elections. He got the massive support and a huge success with over all 472481 votes, defeating National Conference vice president, Omar Abdullah and People’s Conference president, Sajad Gani Lone among others.
