Srinagar, Aug 26: On the occasion of Arbaeen, which commemorates 40 days after the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), young people in Srinagar actively participated in a blood donation drive at Khumeni Chowk in Bemina.
The event, organised by the New Global Care Foundation in collaboration with SMHS Hospital, JVC Hospital and the Red Cross, saw a huge turnout, with 260 blood pints donated throughout the day. The majority of these donors were young individuals eager to contribute to the community.
Hilal Ahmad, a medical representative present at the camp, expressed his appreciation for the youth’s involvement.
“We’re honoured to see so many young people step up to donate blood today. Their enthusiasm and willingness to help others reflects the true spirit of Arbaeen, which is about sacrifice and caring for the community,” he said.
Imran Ahmad, a young donor, shared his motivation for participating in the blood drive: “Donating blood on this day is our way of honouring the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (RA). It’s important to give back to society, and I’m proud to be a part of this effort.”
Ahmad also hailed the “impressive” turnout, saying, “The turnout today has been exceptional. The youth are setting an example of compassion and civic responsibility, which is inspiring to see.”
