The poets during the programme, presented their verses with regard to drug de-addiction and other social evils.
Speaking on the occasion the Deputy Commissioner hailed the efforts of the organizer for conducting such mushaira, saying that need of the hour was to educate people particularly youth about the harmful results of drug abuse. He appealed people including students to be away from such habits. The DC stressed for organising debates, seminars, mushaira and other cultural and variety programmes so that the people can be inspired towards welfare and development ways.
Moreover, counseling of these people is much more imperative, he added. The DC also said that a number of steps have been taken up by the district administration to mould the tendency of youth towards welfare programmes. He said that sports infrastructure is being strengthened and all the sports related facilities are being kept available to keep them engaged with sports activities.
SSP Baramulla in his speech appealed the parents to keep a strict vigil on their children, saying that they have more responsibility than other people like NGO’s, civil society or police, however police and other people are also playing their role to keep youth away from drugs and other social evils.
