Fixes Oct 31 deadline for dumping of essentials in district

Srinagar, Oct 21: In view of Winter Season ahead, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri on Monday convened a meeting to review the preparation of the District Administrations and the civil departments to ensure timely arrangements on ground for the convenience of general public across the Kashmir Division.
The meeting was attended by all Deputy Commissioner of Kashmir Division besides Ramban & Udhampur Districts, Division Level officers of various departments including IMD, R&B, MED, ULB, PMGSY, RDD, SMC, FCS&CA, PHE, KPDCL, KPTCL, NHAI, Health, Fire & Emergency, Horticulture Department, etc.
On the occasion, while reviewing the strategy of snowclearance from Urban & Rural roads by concerned departments, Divisional Commissioner directed officers to set new benchmark of preparation by augmenting deployment of machinery besides mobilization of full resources at their disposal for clearance of roads for restoration of connectivity.
He enjoined to adhere to the fixed timelines of snowclearance from priority roads and all other roads and directed for ensuring men & Machinery on ground by November 15.
Regarding, dumping of essentials items in every district and far-flung areas including Gurez, Karnah, Tangdhar etc, Div Com directed Director Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs to ensure adequate dumping of ration, LPG, Petrol & Diesel in distinct areas and sale centres of districts by October 31st.
Similarly, he asked PDD for maintaining buffer stock of Power Transformers, Wires, and Oil in repairing workshops at District & Sub-Divisional Level for timely replacement & repairing of damaged transformers.
He impressed on PDD officers to launch a campaign to sensitize consumers to avoid usage of crude devices.
He issued directions to Health Department for ensuring the smooth & quality health services during the phase of winter.
He also issued guidelines for advance evacuation of expecting mothers from difficult terrains in view of forecast of snowfall.
Besides, he gave instructions to CE PHE to ensure regular supply of Tap water to the people & operation of lift pumps.
Moreover, operation of helicopter service for the remote areas of Bandipora & Kupwara was also discussed in meeting.
Also, Bidhuri directed for operationalizing Control Rooms in District level manned by officers of all the departments.
DC Ramban & DC Udhampur were asked for facilitating the smooth movement of trucks carrying food grains, Petro-chemical products, fruit and vegetable besides transport vehicles on the national Highway.
In view of the terrorist attack on Civilians in Ganderbal leading to several casualties, Div Com directed DCs for installation of CCTV cameras at markets and project sites besides ensuring security & safety of workers in their respective districts.
