Upper reaches receive snowfall, light rains lash plains

MeT predicts dry weather for next one week

Srinagar, Nov 16: The higher reaches of Kashmir received a major snowfall on Saturday while the rains lashed plains, bringing down the mercury further across Jammu and Kashmir. The weatherman has, however, predicted dry weather conditions from tomorrow till November 23rd.
Almost ten inches of snowfall accumulated at Sadhna Top, Sinthan Top, Z Gali and Razdan Top Saturday.
The details further reveal that the main Gulmarg also experienced the season’s first snowfall today where nearly three inches of snowfall accumulated till this evening. Pir ki Gali has also received a snowfall of six inches while Sonamarg received a snowfall of four inches.
The fresh snowfall was experienced under the influence of a Western Disturbance. Besides, the rains lashed multiple areas including the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar, bringing down the mercury further across J&K.
As per the details shared by the local Meteorological department, there is a forecast of dry weather conditions for the next one week.
A local Meteorological department (MeT) has predicted generally cloudy weather with the possibility of light rain and snow over higher reaches at many places of Kashmir & few places of Jammu division till tomorrow afternoon.
Director MeT, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad stated there is a possibility of generally dry weather from November 17th to 23rd. He also said that amidst cloudy weather, the light rain and snow over higher reaches at isolated places are expected on November 24.
Furthermore, the MeT has issued an advisory, advising the tourists, trekkers and travellers to plan accordingly.
