With the challenges mounting for the government to ensure the round-the-clock electricity supply to the consumers, the government has come up with the unique initiative of solar roof-top, which will help in enhancing the power generation. The concerned Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has been making tireless efforts to ensure more and more consumers joining the initiative by installing the roof-top solar plants in the Valley. In this regard, the concerned have opted for a unique way to reach every household in the Valley by sending a direct text messages to the consumers to treat as genuine and authentic the bulk text messages with regard to the installation of solar roof-top plants under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana of the Union Ministry of New & Renewable Energy. The text messages are being sent to domestic and Rate Code 1 consumers, whose monthly bills exceed Rs 2,000, urging them to install the solar roof-tops under PM Surya Ghar for reducing their bills and availing Central Subsidy of Rs 85,800 and UT share of Rs 9,000 for plants up to 3 kWp. According to the records, out of 24,558 metered consumers who have their mobile numbers registered with KPDCL, text messages have been sent to 24,538 consumers so far. With this move, the KPDCL will be able to motivate and attract the consumers towards the government’s mission of PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana of the Union Ministry of New & Renewable Energy. The consumers, who are paying hefty bills, must be identified in a time bound manner and should be approached to help them in joining the initiative by installing the solar roof-top plants within a stipulated time.
