Srinagar, Nov 30: Inspector General of Border Security Force, Kashmir frontier, Ashok Yadav Saturday said that there was possibility of surge in infiltration before the onset of winter as snowfall blocks all traditional routes for terrorists intending to sneak in.
Talking to reporters at STC Humhama, Yadav, said that there was a possibility of spurt in the infiltration from across in the days ahead.
“Terrorist infiltration shows increase before winter sets in. BSF in collaboration with the Army, carefully works out a plan to seal vulnerable points along the Line of Control to ensure all infiltration bids are foiled,” Yadav said.
He further said that the BSF’s operational plans are driven by timely intelligence inputs from multiple agencies, allowing for a comprehensive approach to security. “We have inputs about terrorists ready at the launch pads across the border, our strategic dominance over the area ensures we can effectively disrupt any attempt,” the BSF officer said.
Yadav also said that the challenges posed by the Valleys’ difficult terrain and unpredictable weather are difficult to handle but “the force is ready and well prepared to face all challenges in a professional manner.”
“The months ahead of winter bring challenges along but our forces are prepared. We maintain a strong presence along the LoC and are equipped to deal with any threats,” he stated.
The IG BSF said that the force is following a multi-layered strategy. “This includes enhanced surveillance capabilities, including thermal imaging, night patrols, and ground sensors, which work in tandem with Army operations to strengthen defense efforts. “The inter-agency coordination has significantly improved the region’s security,” he said.
