Srinagar, Nov 30: The Meteorological Department reported a significant 69 per cent rainfall deficit across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh for the month of November.
The Meteorological Centre Srinagar said that against a normal average of 35.3 mm, only 10.9 mm of rainfall was recorded in the region during this period.
Kathua district experienced the most severe shortfall, with a 100 per cent departure from normal rainfall, registering 0.0 mm against an expected 28.0 mm. Poonch followed closely, with a 98 per cent deficit.
In Budgam, rainfall stood at 14.9 mm, 90 per cent below the normal 30.1 mm. Srinagar and Jammu districts also faced considerable deficits of 74 per cent and 78 per cent respectively.
However, Samba district emerged as an exception, receiving 48 per cent more rainfall than average, with 12.5 mm recorded against the normal 8.1 mm. Kupwara district also saw a near-normal pattern, recording only a 3 per cent departure with 48.1 mm against the normal 49.8 mm. (KINS)
