Coronavirus: J&K records 2030 positive cases, 8 deaths

Srinagar, Apr 20: The Covid-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir continue to show a spurt as 2,030 fresh positive cases, highest ever in ongoing year were reported on Tuesday pushing the number of active cases to 13,470 which otherwise were less than 600 around a month before.

Eight more deaths were reported in J&K in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 2,071 and active cases continue to increase and the recovery rate decreases with each passing day. 2,030 fresh positive cases reported on Tuesday pushed the tally of positive cases to 150,238

Of the exact number of 150,238 cases, 89,942 are from Kashmir and 60,296 from Jammu division.

Officials said that among 2,030 new cases, 1,086 belong to Kashmir division while as 944 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 89,942 including 80,747 recoveries and 1,300 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 60,296 including 53,950 recoveries and 771 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 13,470  including 7,895 from Kashmir division and 5,575 from Jammu division.

With 716 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 134,697 which is 89.65 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 647 from Srinagar, 136 from Baramulla, 119 from Budgam, 57 from Pulwama, 06 from Kupwara, 36 from Anantnag, 21 from Bandipora, 16 from Ganderbal, 35 from Kulgam and 13 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 944 from Jammu division include 501 from Jammu, 81 from Udhampur, 34 from Rajouri, 13 from Doda, 54 from Kathua, 30 from Samba,  19 from Kishtwar, 37 from Poonch, 32 from Ramban and 143 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

As per officials figures, 35,720 positive cases including 490 deaths and 30,750 recoveries are from Srinagar, 10,707 including 184 deaths and 9,395 recoveries are from Baramulla, 9,143 including 8,467 recoveries and 123 deaths are from Budgam, 6,437 including 6,000 recoveries and 94 deaths are from Pulwama, 6,196 including 99 deaths and 5,828 recoveries are from Kupwara, 5,688 including 5,241 recoveries and 101 deaths are from Anantnag, 5,039 cases including 4,811 and 63 deaths are from Bandipora, 4,967 including 4,725 recoveries and 49 deaths are from Ganderbal, 3,270 including 2,896 recoveries and 57 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,775 including 2,634 recoveries and 40 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 29,741 including 26,034 recoveries and 404 deaths are from Jammu district, 5,342 including 4,967 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Udhampur, 4,152 including 3,867 recoveries and 57 deaths are from Rajouri, 3,553 including 3,429 recoveries and 64 deaths are from Doda, 3,861including 3,513 recoveries and 54 deaths are from Kathua, 3,127 including 2,887 recoveries and 44 deaths are from Samba, 2,827 including 2,770 recoveries and 22 deaths are from Kishtwar, 2,676 including 2,531 recoveries and 29 deaths are from Poonch, 2,275 including 2,158 recoveries and 23 deaths are from Ramban and 2,742 including 1,794 recoveries and 16 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin 1,690,405 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 70,837 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 13,470 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 1,475,452 persons have completed surveillance period and 128,575 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 6,833,449 samples are available. Out of 6,833,449 the number of samples tested negative stands at 6,683,211 while as 150,238 have tested positive, among them 13,470 persons are active, 134,697 persons have recovered and 2,071 persons have died.
