Police arrest drug peddler in Pulwama

Srinagar, Dec 14: Police in Pulwama have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
Acting on leads that surfaced during the ongoing investigation of case FIR No. 87/2024 under Section 8/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Litter, a drug peddler identified as Mohammad Shamim Wani son of Abdul Majeed Wani resident of Astanpora, was arrested and 15.50 grams of a Brown Sugar was recovered from his possession.
It is apt to mention that in the investigation conducted so far in the instant case, one drug peddler identified as Yawar Ahmad Mir Son of Abdul Hamid Mir resident of Melhoura was already arrested on 26/11/2024 and 10.58 grams of Brown Sugar was recovered from his possession. In order to ascertain the backward/forward linkages, the accused Yawar Ahmad Mir was put to sustained questioning wherein he revealed the role of Mohammad Shamim Wani of Astanpora in drug trafficking in the area.
Investigations revealed that the co-accused Mohammad Shamim Wani was using his motorcycle, bearing registration number JK13F-0571, to transport the illicit drug and accordingly it has also been seized in the instant case. Further investigation of the case is going on.
J&K Police remains resolute in its mission to eliminate drug-related activities in the area and safeguard the community. The general public is requested to remain vigilant and report drug peddling activities to the nearest police station, ensuring collective action against the menace of drug addiction and trafficking.
