Rather, Sakeena conduct extensive tour of Chrar-i- Sharief constituency

Budgam, Dec 14: Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather along with Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo Saturday conducted an extensive tour of Chrar-i- Sharief Constituency of Budgam district.
During the tour, the Speaker and the Minister inaugurated vital infrastructure projects. They also inspected several health facilities in the constituency and took stock of healthcare facilities available for the general public.
Deputy Commissioner, Budgam, Akshay Labroo; Director School Education Kashmir, Director Social Welfare Kashmir, Director Health Services Kashmir, Director Colleges J&K, HoDs of various departments, district officers, and other concerned officers also accompanied the Speaker and Minister during the tour.
At GDC Chrar-i- Sharief, the Speaker and the Minister inaugurated Indoor Sports Complex built at an estimated cost of Rs 2.28 crores and Extension of Library Block constructed at the cost of Rs 97 lakh at Government Degree College, Chrar-i- Sharief . They also took round of the College premises and inspected classrooms and other facilities of the college. They also interacted with students and took onspot feedback from them about the quality of education being provided at the institution.
Addressing the gathering, Speaker Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather emphasized on the importance of education in building a bright future for our next generation. He remarked that education is the cornerstone of development of any society and by investing in education, we are laying foundation for a brighter tomorrow for our children.
The Speaker called upon the students to make best use of this newly inaugurated Library block. He also called upon the students as well as locals of Chrar-i- Sharief that apart from education they should also take part in extracurricular activities as sports is emerging as key profession in current day world.
Speaking on occasion, Sakeena Itoo remarked that our government led by dynamic Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is committed towards welfare of common masses. “Our Government is determined to ensure that every citizen, regardless of where they live, has access to opportunities that will lead to their prosperity and progress”, Sakeena said.
The Minister, on the occasion, called upon the Principal of college and faculty members to address the reasons leading to shortfall in roll of students in the college. She also advised the students to take best use of inaugurated library block as well as indoor sports facility.
Sakeena Itoo also asked the Director Colleges to look out the feasibility of providing college bus to the institution as the college as student flow from several far off areas.
She also asked the Director Health Services to establish a first aid unit in the college premises for the welfare of students.
The Minister, in her address, assured the College administration, students and public that the issues raised during the interaction will be addressed by concerned quarters promptly.
Later, the Speaker along with the Minister visited SDH Chrar-i- Sharief and SDH Pakherpora and took stock of medical care services available for the locals.
They inspected different wards of facilities and also interacted with doctors and paramedics on the occasion.
They also interacted with patients and their attendants and took onspot feedback from them about the services being provided at the facilities.
