Srinagar, Dec 21: Customers in the Kashmir Valley are expressing frustration over recurring technical glitches in Jammu and Kashmir Bank’s ATMs, which have been causing inconvenience to users.
Several customers have reported instances where money was debited from their accounts without cash being dispensed, leaving them in distressing situations.
These technical errors create challenges for customers who rely on the ATMs for urgent needs.
A local shared his ordeal after attempting to withdraw Rs 10,000 from a JK Bank ATM in Lal Chowk Srinagar. The amount was debited from his account, but no cash was dispensed. “I needed the money to purchase medicine for my ailing mother. Due to the bank’s technological error, I couldn’t access the funds when I needed them most,” Mudasir Ahmed told the news agency Kashmir News Trust. While the amount was eventually credited back to his account after a couple of days, the delay undermined his ability to address his immediate needs.
Similar complaints have surfaced from other customers, who also describe their frustration over the delayed resolution of such issues. For many, the inability to access their money when required has caused both emotional and financial distress.
“I withdrew Rs 5,000 to pay my utility bill, but the ATM malfunctioned. By the time the amount was credited back, the payment deadline had passed,” another customer Rameez Rasool said.
The customers said that the problem seems to be recurring, with no concrete resolution in sight from the bank. They urged the bank to modernize its systems and enhance the reliability of its ATM network.
When approached, a spokesperson for Jammu and Kashmir Bank acknowledged the issue and attributed it to technical glitches in their ATM network. The bank assured that they are working to address these problems and minimize customer inconvenience.
The spokesperson also advised customers to report any ATM-related issues immediately to their nearest branch or through the bank’s helpline to facilitate quicker resolution. [KNT]
